Magpie Dance received a grant of £5,000 to fund dance classes for people with learning disabilities

This grant enabled Magpie Dance to meet venue costs for three weekly dance sessions in 2018/19 benefiting 50 children, young people and adults with learning disabilities. These sessions took place at the Langley Park School in Beckenham, the Crofton Halls in Orpington and the United Reform Church in Bromley. While a critical part of programme delivery, meeting venue costs is a particular financial challenge for the charity.

The grant also enabled 50 children, young people and adults and their parents and carers to take part in unique skills, cultural and social development opportunities through two organised trips – one to the English National Ballet performance and workshop and another to Bromley Museums and Archives for a World War One presentation and workshop. Both of these trips offered bespoke cultural experiences to our participants enabling them to interact with professionals and educators as well as their peers in a positive and supportive environment.

Thalie Martini, Chief Executive of Magpie Dance says:

Your financial support has significantly eased this pressure over the past financial year. Without the support from the Masonic Charitable Foundation, these trips would not have taken place.
